Meet Our Providers
With over 50 years of combined experience in cardiovascular disease management, GHVG physicians Dr. David Johnson and Dr. Bernardine King have been instrumental in making Northeast Georgia Medical Center the premier choice for cardiovascular care in Georgia. Gainesville Heart and Vascular Group provides the same cardiology expertise and services you would expect in any large metropolitan city but with small-town benefits and local convenience.
Bernardine King, M.D., F.A.C.C.
Dr. Bernardine M. King received her medical degree from the University of the Philippines. She completed a residency training program in Internal Medicine-Cardiology in the Philippines and served as a clinical assistant professor before coming to the United States to pursue further studies. She completed a Cardiology fellowship training program at the University of South Florida in Tampa and residency training at Georgia Baptist Medical Center in Atlanta. During her years in training, she co-authored several papers on echocardiography and received awards for outstanding leadership. She is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease. She is a member of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association. Since 2002, she has given several lectures in the community regarding the importance of increasing awareness of heart disease in women. Dr. King practices and has expertise in all facets of Cardiovascular Disease. She lives in Gainesville with her husband and son.
David Johnson, M.D., F.A.C.C.
Dr. David P. Johnson was born and grew up in Gainesville, GA. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA and completed internship and residency training at the Medical College of Georgia Hospitals, there. He then moved to Florida for a fellowship in cardiovascular disease from the University of South Florida in Tampa and later returned to his hometown to establish Gainesville Heart Group in 1994. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and is Board certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Nuclear Cardiology. His professional interests include consultative cardiology, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and diagnostic cardiac catheterization. He resides in Gainesville, GA with his wife and son.
